There are various destinations through out the UK offering entirely different holidays with the services, accommodation and areas of interest being so unique. It depends entirely on the kind of holiday you want as to where you should go in the UK. For example if you want to go to a destination that can offer luxury hotel accommodation and great shopping then you would be best taking a City break, instead of a holiday in the middle of the country.
There are plenty of different destinations both Cities and more rural destinations that are very popular with tourists. Some of these different destinations and places to stay include;
- City breaks There are many Cities through the UK that are very popular with visitors from around the world but these Cities offer completely different surroundings and places of interest. The Cities are usually more appealing to those that want high class accommodation and all the modern amenities. Some of these Cities and the features they have to offer include;
o Liverpool This is a fairly young City in the way that although it does have historical interest from the industrial and maritime sectors it is a very modern, cosmopolitan City. It was highly popular throughout the 60s mainly due to the high interest surrounding the football at that time. Amongst the modern bars and shops there is a historical back ground where it is possible to learn of the Cities maritime history, there is also a world museum with many pieces from around the world. However, there is also a great musical history in the City mainly due to the well known band The Beatles.
o York This is a very historical City with a background including buildings of William the Conqueror still standing and the famous York Dungeons. Of course as well as all the historical value the City has to offer for those that like to be a little more active there is always the Yorkshire Dales that you can go on many a hike.
- Rural breaks As there are many places to visit if you like to be in the City there are lots of destinations for those that want to be active and in more rural surroundings. There are many places suitable for those that like hiking or mountain biking for example The Cotswold is very popular for both of these activities. There are areas that over a wider range of activities such as the Lake District that can offer all of the land activities but with the option of water sports as well. It is very popular with those that want to incorporate a variety of activities into one holiday. As for the accommodation it is still possible to stay somewhere that has modern features but it is more likely to be an older and traditional building exterior. That is another factor that attracts people to these areas is the beautiful older buildings that have been changed very little since they were first built.
