London is one of the most visited Cities in the UK by foreign and British tourists a like this is because it has everything that young, modern people want but also has a vast selection of historical sites. Many of the buildings in London are very old so are of interest to those involved, or with a general interest, in architectural work. Many of the old, grand hotels are of interest because they have been modernised on the inside but many have kept the exterior the same as when the building was originally built.

There are many different activities to do in London and also lots of different types of accommodation, below are some examples of things to do and places to stay in London for tourists.

- Attractions There are plenty of attractions to keep tourists entertained both those interested in the historical and modern. One of the top attractions in London is the Tate Museum of Modern Art, it not only has contemporary pieces but also classics from the likes of Picasso. Of course there is also the British Museum that has hundreds of exhibition pieces ranging from pre-historic times right up until modern day from around the world. As well as these places of historical interest there are places like The London Eye that attracts thousands of people each year and was built for the millennium.

- Accommodation As with the attractions there are many places to stay in London as well all with varying cost and standards. There are so many that there is guaranteed to be one that is suitable for any ones taste and budget. The types of accommodation range from the grand hotels to the small privately owned bed and breakfasts. There are places such as The Ritz that offer extremely high class accommodation and service to their guests with features such as a fitness studio and its own hair salon. There are then private bed and breakfasts that offer a more homely experience whilst still offering high standards of service. The bed and breakfasts will have fewer rooms so there will be a more personal feel to the service, and because it is someones house you are living in there will be more home comforts if that is your preference. As well as hotels and guest houses there are also things like hostels that are used very often by travelling foreign students. This is because although the services are limited and the facilities basic the prices usually reflect this so are very cheap accommodation for those with little funding.
