Over the years hotel accommodation has changed dramatically and there is now more choice than ever before. There are different types of hotel to suit almost every individual their tastes and budget. Of course a lot of the choice of hotel is determined by personal preference but also people have to take into consideration how much they can spend. This is a great change from the first hotels that were all fairly basic and didnt really offer many services other than bed and breakfast. As well as the services changing because there is now a sector aimed at budget pricing it means those that may previously not have been able to afford hotels now can.
There are 3 main types of hotel now as they have developed over the years, some hotels dont fall into one set category but a mixture of a couple. These 3 main types are;
- Budget hotels There are many budget hotels that are aimed at people that have a small budget and want to spend as little as possible. This means that the accommodation is fairly basic and so the rooms usually just have basic facilities such as bed, washing facilities and most have communal toilets. The price of these budget hotels depends on the area they are situated in for example a budget hotel in London would be more expensive than a hotel offering the same standards on the outskirts of London. This is because with hotels and guest houses the location makes a great difference to price because of the convenience to the guest.
- Business hotels These are accommodation aimed at business people that have certain expectations from the place they are staying. For example most business focused hotels will have fast, wireless internet connections and things like a pressing machine, hairdryer and televisions in the rooms; this is because many business people see these items as essential items.
- Luxury hotels This type of hotel is aimed at those that have lavish lifestyles and they aim to provide the guests with all the luxuries they desire whilst staying there. It is the hotels goal to ensure that the guests stay is as stress free as possible so many offer 5 star beauty treatment centres, offering a wide range of treatments from massages to full spa days. Other services that may be provided by the hotel is a laundry service, exercise facilities, in house restaurants and bars meaning that the service is more all rounded with everything being under one roof.
